Maison Robert opens.

(Dec.) Operated by French native Lucien Robert and his wife Martha Ann Rossing, with their nephew Jacky Robert as chef, it is located in Old City Hall. The restaurant becomes known for its classic French cuisine, attentive and formal-attired waitstaff and refined decor. Former Boston Globe food critic Allison Arnold subsequent writes, “Maison Robert . . . represented a kind of effortless elegance that few restaurants attain.” The restaurant closes on February 15, 2004.
